Resilient Data Protection

Critical Aspects of Our Data Protection Strategy

Safeguard your critical data and applications against loss, corruption, or ransomware attacks with our reliable data backup services. We design and implement robust backup strategies tailored to your business requirements, including full, incremental, and differential backups. Our solutions encompass on-premises backup appliances, cloud backup services, or a hybrid approach for added redundancy. We ensure data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance throughout the backup lifecycle.

Minimise downtime and ensure business continuity in the face of disruptive events with our comprehensive disaster recovery planning services. Our experts conduct thorough risk assessments, analysing potential threats such as natural disasters, cyber-attacks, hardware failures, or human errors. Based on these assessments, we develop tailored disaster recovery strategies, including data replication, failover systems, and step-by-step recovery procedures to restore critical systems and data swiftly.

Validate the effectiveness and reliability of your backup and disaster recovery plans through our regular testing and validation services. We simulate various disaster scenarios and initiate recovery processes to verify backup integrity, test restoration procedures, and measure recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs). These tests identify potential gaps or bottlenecks, allowing us to proactively refine and optimise your recovery strategies.

Offload the complexities of data backup management to our team of experts through our managed backup services. We handle all aspects of backup administration, including scheduling, monitoring, reporting, and ensuring adherence to your defined retention policies. Our technicians perform regular backup validations, rotate and manage storage media, and promptly address any backup failures, providing you with peace of mind knowing your data is secure and recoverable.

Ensure your backup and data retention practices comply with relevant industry regulations and standards through our backup compliance services. Our compliance experts assist in developing comprehensive backup policies, defining data classification and retention schedules, implementing access controls, and establishing auditing procedures. We help you meet regulatory obligations, such as HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS, and others, mitigating risks of non-compliance fines or data breaches.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

Frequently Asked Questions

Not in the way most people assume. Microsoft protects the platform and offers limited retention, but it is not a backup of your data and it will not help you recover a mailbox or a SharePoint site deleted months ago. A separate backup of 365 is one of the more common gaps we find.

Backup is a copy of your data. Disaster recovery is the plan and the infrastructure that gets the business running again, including where systems will run, in what order they come back, and who does what. Having the first without the second is common and only becomes obvious at the worst moment.

Recovery point objective is how much data you can afford to lose, measured in time. Recovery time objective is how long you can afford to be down. Both are commercial decisions rather than technical ones, and the design follows from them rather than the other way round.

There is no single standard, so it follows your recovery objectives rather than a fixed rule. In practice that means every job verified automatically each day, a sample restore each month, and a full failover exercise once or twice a year. An untested backup is an assumption, and a silently failing job tends to announce itself on the day you need it.

Only if they are out of reach of the thing encrypting you. Modern ransomware looks for backups first, so a copy sitting on the same network with the same credentials is not protection. What matters is immutability, meaning copies that cannot be altered or deleted within their retention window even by an administrator account, and at least one copy held separately from the production environment.
